Nueva Andalucia

Nueva Andalucía
Style that is totally its own
Nueva Andalucía has a style that is totally its own. Technically a suburb of Marbella, it has its own glamour, however it is understated, offering peace and tranquillity away from the lively ambience of neighbouring Puerto Banús. This area is one of the most sought-after in the area, below we discuss the reasons for its enduring popularity:

Where is it?

Nueva Andalucía is a green paradise, low-density building and wide, tree-lined boulevards winding their way through this quiet, serene community.

Essentially a suburb of Marbella, Nueva Andalucía runs North from the border of Puerto Banús and is bordered by the Guadaiza River to the West and Rio Verde to the East. It follows the foothills of the Sierra Blanca mountain up towards the AP-7 toll road.
Why is it so popular?

It is the proximity to the best the Costa del Sol has to offer in a tranquil, secure setting that attracts locals as well as a large community of expats. Brits love this area, as does a substantial Scandinavian contingent. The area is a veritable Babel, however, with a wide variety of languages and accents heard on its streets.

With 320 days of sun a year, the glorious mountain backdrop of La Concha and great amenities and infrastructure really seal its popularity.

Is it good for families?

Nueva Andalucia is one of the best areas on the Costa del Sol for families. Spanish, English and bilingual schools are all within easy reach, including one of the most prestigious international schools in Andalucía, Aloha College, with intake from nursery to school leaving age. There are also German and Swedish schools a brief drive away.

After-school activities are too numerous to mention. Just a taste of what’s on offer include martial arts, dance, boxing and golf. There are also language schools for those who feel the need to brush up on their Spanish.

What to do?

Locally, Nueva Andalucía’s nickname is ‘Golf Valley’, and for good reason. There are six golf courses in and around the area, including the renowned La Quinta course, as well as Aloha, Las Brisas, Los Naranjos and the 9-hole courses of Magna Marbella and Dama de Noche, the latter floodlit for night owls.
There are tennis and padel courses as well as gyms, Crossfit and boxing gyms – however you want to get a sweat on, there is an option for you! For gentler pursuits, nature lovers can have a stroll around the trails through the pine forest at the Lago de las Tortugas (Turtle Lake).

Shop till you drop

There is a diverse selection of shops in the area, from supermarkets for everyday items, including one stocking a wide variety of British items, to upscale boutiques. If it’s something special you’re looking for, El Corte Ingles in Puerto Banús is a five-minute drive away and has practically any designer label you could wish for.

Gastronomic variety

Thanks to the diverse population of Nueva Andalucía, the culinary delights on offer are also wide and varied. Of course, there are many local tapas bars, or if it’s a hearty steak you’re craving, local favourite Vovem is a great spot. Or for fresh, innovative gastronomy, Breathe will not disappoint. From Indian to Japanese to modern eclectic, foodies will not be disappointed with the gastronomic choice on offer in Nueva Andalucía.
