Malaga Airport Surpasses 4.5 Million Passengers in Record-Breaking First Quarter of 2024

Malaga Airport has set a new benchmark by surpassing 4.5 million passengers, marking an extraordinary start to the year 2024. With each passing month, the airport continues to shatter its own records, showcasing an unprecedented surge in both passenger numbers and flight operations.

As revealed by AENA, the operator of Malaga Airport, the figures speak for themselves. Compared to the same period last year, the airport has witnessed a remarkable uptick, boasting over 20% more passengers and nearly 15% more flights. This remarkable feat positions Malaga Airport as the frontrunner in passenger growth among Spain's most popular airports.
What drives this monumental achievement? It's the irresistible allure of Malaga's tourism scene, the magnetism of its events and the beauty of its beaches. Combined, these elements create an irresistible draw for travellers.
AENA's extensive airport network across Spain has witnessed a surge, clocking in a 13% increase in total passenger traffic, culminating in over 60 million passengers. At the forefront of this surge stands Malaga Airport, claiming the title of the third busiest airport in Spain, trailing only behind the giants of Madrid and Barcelona airports.
Delving deeper into the data, it's evident that Malaga Airport has become a gateway of choice for international travellers. The first quarter of 2024 witnessed staggering demand from key markets, with the British market leading the charge with nearly one million passengers.

Following closely behind are Germany and the Netherlands, each contributing over 300,000 passengers, while Italy and France round off the top destinations with over 200,000 passengers combined.
